About this blank filler
A blank, or filler, occupies an empty drive bay, power supply bay, card slot or port in a server, switch or computer. It keeps the cooling air flowing through the parts that need it rather than escaping through the gap, and keeps dust and fingers out. Missing blanks can raise temperature warnings, make fans run faster, or let a server report an open bay. They are also needed after a part is removed and not replaced.
