About this RAID cache module
A RAID cache module gives a storage controller fast memory for writes, and the battery or capacitor that goes with it protects that memory during a power cut. Without a working cache, most controllers fall back to slower write-through operation. Batteries and capacitors wear out with age and heat. Signs of a fault are a cache or battery warning at start-up or in the management software, write caching that has been switched off, or a battery that never finishes charging.
