About this drive carrier
A drive carrier, also called a caddy, tray or sled, holds a hard drive or SSD so that it can be mounted in a laptop, desktop or server. In servers it carries the latch, handle and status lights, and lets the drive be swapped while the system runs. A carrier is needed when a drive is moved into an empty bay, when the latch or handle is broken, or when a drive came without a carrier. A loose or poorly seated carrier can cause a drive to drop out.
