About this transfer unit
The transfer unit moves the toner image from the drum onto the paper. In colour laser printers it is usually a belt that collects each colour in turn; in others it is a roller that sits beneath the drum. As it wears, pages show uneven or blotchy colour, colours printed out of line with each other, faint areas, or a transfer or belt error on the printer's panel. Like the fuser, it wears out with the pages it prints, and printers often warn when it is due.
