About this memory module
Memory, or RAM, holds the programs and data a computer is working on while it runs. Modules must match what the system board supports: the generation, the physical form, the speed and, in servers, whether the module is registered and error-correcting. Mixing unlike modules can stop a system starting, or make it run at the slowest module's speed. Faulty memory shows as warning beeps or lights at start-up, crashes and blue screens, memory errors in the system log, or less memory reported than is fitted.
