Cookies on this site
Some cookies are needed to make this site work at all. Everything else is optional, is off until you say otherwise, and can be turned back off at the bottom of this page.
Always on, because the site cannot work without them
| Name | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| LBSID | Keeps you talking to the same one of our two web servers for the length of your visit. Without it a basket built on one server can look empty on the other. | Until you close your browser |
| SESS… | Keeps you signed in, and only exists once you sign in. It holds a random identifier, never your name or password. | Until you sign out, or about three weeks |
| spl_consent_v1 | Not a cookie — this one is browser storage. It remembers the choice you make on the banner so you are not asked on every page. | Until you clear your browser data |
Only if you accept: measurement
These tell us which parts of the site people cannot find and which pages are slow. We use them to fix the site, not to build a profile of you, and we have turned off Google advertising personalisation on this property.
| Name | Set by | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_YW2KGRXMB8 | Google Analytics | Counts visits and tells one visit apart from another, so "how many people searched and found nothing" is answerable. It is a random number, not an identity. | Two years |
| _clck, _clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Records how pages are used — where people click and scroll, and where they give up — so a confusing page can be found and fixed. | One year, and one day |
What we do not do
- We run no advertising cookies and no advertising pixels. There is no Meta pixel, no LinkedIn tag and no remarketing tag on this site.
- We do not sell or share what we measure.
- Our analytics never record what you type into a form, and never tie the part numbers you look at to your name.
What we keep when you search or ask us for a part
When you search our catalogue, or ask us for a quote or a hard-to-find part, we keep a record of what you asked for, so that we stock and price what customers actually need. If you were signed in, that record is linked to your account for 24 months, so our sales team can see what you have asked for before. After 24 months we remove your account and anything you typed that could identify you, and keep only the part, the date and whether we could supply it.
Changing your mind
Withdrawing has to be as easy as agreeing, so it is one button:
That stops any further measurement immediately. Cookies already stored will expire on their own, and you can clear them yourself in your browser at any time — we cannot delete them for you, because only your browser can.
Questions about any of this: email sales@spl.co.za and it will reach the right person.
