About this heatsink
A heatsink draws heat away from a processor or graphics chip through a metal plate in contact with it, often using sealed heat pipes to carry the heat to fins where a fan or the system's airflow removes it. In laptops the heatsink, heat pipes and fan are usually one thermal module. A blocked, damaged or poorly seated heatsink shows as overheating, loud fans, a machine that slows itself down under load, or sudden shutdowns. A heat pipe that has been bent or dented can lose most of its effect.
Is this the right part?
The part number is on a label on the heatsink or module. Match the machine's model and its graphics configuration, since models with and without a separate graphics chip use different heatsinks. Clean off the old thermal compound and apply fresh when fitting. The manufacturer's part number for this listing is DT785.
Not sure? Send us the number from the label, or your machine's serial number, and we will confirm the match before you order.
