About this inverter board
An inverter board powers the fluorescent backlight in older laptop and monitor screens, converting low-voltage power to the high voltage the lamp needs. Screens with LED backlights do not need an inverter. Signs of a failing inverter are a screen that goes dark while a faint image is still visible in bright light, a backlight that flickers or takes a while to come on, or a screen that turns off a few moments after starting.
