About this hard drive
A hard drive is a storage device that keeps data on rotating magnetic platters, with read and write heads carried across them on a moving arm. Drives vary in interface, rotational speed, physical size and capacity, and a server drive normally sits in a carrier made for a particular server family. Warning signs of failure include clicking or grinding sounds, much slower access, read errors, alerts from the drive's built-in health monitoring, a fault light on a server unit, or the system failing to recognise the drive. Copy off whatever data you can before swapping it out.
Is this the right part?
Find the part number on the label on top of the drive; a server drive may also show a server-family number on its carrier. Check the interface, size and capacity match, and in an array fit the same type as the neighbouring drives.
