A rail kit mounts a server, storage unit or network device in a rack, and usually lets it slide forward for servicing without being removed. Kits are made for particular equipment models and rack types: some fit square-hole racks without tools, others need screws for round or threaded holes, and some include an arm to manage the cables at the back.
