About this riser card
A riser card is a small board that plugs into the system board and holds expansion slots sideways, letting add-in cards lie flat inside a low-profile desktop or server case. Servers commonly offer several riser positions, and each position may accept a riser carrying a different count or style of slot, while some risers arrive mounted in a cage. A failing riser shows itself when cards seated in its slots vanish from the system, when errors are logged against those slots, or when the server flags the riser as absent or unsupported.
