About this display cable
A display cable links a laptop's main board to its screen, running through the hinge and carrying the video signal together with backlight power. On many machines it also feeds the camera and microphone. Routing, length, connector shape and the signals carried vary between models, so the cable must suit the exact machine and panel. Because it bends each time the lid opens or closes, it gradually wears out. Typical warnings are flickering, lines or a blank picture that alter as the lid moves, an image that reaches an external monitor but not the built-in screen, or a camera that fails alongside the display.
