About this heatsink
A heatsink is a metal assembly that pulls heat away from a processor or graphics chip and releases it into the air. A base plate sits against the chip, and sealed heat pipes often carry the warmth to fins, where a fan or the system's airflow disperses it. In many laptops the heatsink, pipes and fan form a single thermal module, so the whole unit must suit the machine. Warning signs of a blocked, damaged or badly seated heatsink include overheating, noisy fans, the machine slowing under load, or sudden shutdowns. A bent or dented heat pipe can lose most of its cooling ability.
Is this the right part?
Find the part number on the label fixed to the heatsink or module. Check your machine's model and graphics configuration, since versions with and without a separate graphics chip take different heatsinks. When fitting, remove the old thermal compound and apply fresh. The manufacturer's part number for this listing is 04X3918.
Not sure? Send us the number from the label, or your machine's serial number, and we will confirm the match before you order.
