A waste toner or ink collector stores the surplus material a printer removes while it runs: toner wiped from the drum or belt in a laser machine, or ink flushed through the nozzles of an inkjet during cleaning cycles. It may be a sealed container or a block of absorbent pads, and it gradually fills with use. The printer warns when it is nearly full and stops when it is full. Fault signs include a full message that will not clear, toner or ink escaping inside the machine, or the printer failing to recognise the collector.
