About this printhead
A printhead is the component that applies ink to paper, carrying rows of fine nozzles that release droplets as it travels across the page. Designs differ: some printers fit the head inside each ink cartridge, while others keep a separate head fixed in the machine. When nozzles clog or fail, you may see gaps in lines, streaks, banding, missing or incorrect colours, or an error message on the control panel. Running cleaning cycles often clears blockages, but a head that still performs badly after cleaning generally has to be replaced.
