About this solid-state drive
A solid-state drive holds data in flash memory and has no moving parts, so it runs quicker, silently and with better resistance to knocks than a hard drive. Drives vary in connection type and physical shape: one made for a notebook may not suit a server bay, and a card-style drive must match the slot's keying and protocol. Flash memory wears down with writing, and the drive tracks its own wear. Warning signs include turning read-only, vanishing from the system, slowing sharply or flagging errors in its health reports.
How to choose a replacement SSD
Is this the right part?
Find the part number on the label fixed to the drive or its carrier. Before fitting, compare the connection type, the physical dimensions and, for a card-style drive, the length and keying against the slot or the drive being replaced. The manufacturer's part number for this listing is SSD128-G.
Not sure? Send us the number from the label, or your machine's serial number, and we will confirm the match before you order.
Questions buyers ask about solid-state drives
Will a 2.5-inch SATA SSD fit my laptop?
It fits if the laptop has a 2.5-inch drive bay with a SATA connector, which is what most laptops with a hard drive use. Many thinner laptops take only an M.2 drive, and 2.5-inch drives come in 7 mm and 9.5 mm heights. Check the drive you are replacing, or send us the laptop's model and serial number and we will confirm the match.
What is the difference between an M.2 SATA and an M.2 NVMe drive?
Both use the same small M.2 card, but they talk to the computer differently, and NVMe drives are several times faster. A slot built only for SATA will not run an NVMe drive, and the other way round. The notches on the drive's edge connector and the machine's specifications tell you which your slot takes.
