About this printer roller
A printer roller is a rubber-covered wheel that grips paper and drives it through the feed path. At the tray it picks the top sheet, a separation roller or pad keeps extra sheets back, and further rollers guide the page onward. The correct part can vary between trays fitted to the same model, so tray position matters. With age the rubber turns hard and glossy, traction falls away, and feeding becomes unreliable: sheets that are not picked up, multiple sheets entering together, crooked or wrinkled pages, and stoppages near the start of the path.
